xDrip+ is the most powerful free CGM app for Android. It connects to Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, and other sensors, displaying glucose data with more customization than any official app. This guide walks you through installation and basic setup.
What Is xDrip+?
xDrip+ is an open-source Android app that reads CGM data, either directly from the sensor or from a transmitter, and displays it on your phone with alarms, widgets, graphs, and watchface complications. It is not affiliated with Dexcom or Abbott — it is built by the diabetes community.
Step 1: Install xDrip+
xDrip+ is not on the Google Play Store. Download the latest stable APK from:

Enable “Install from unknown sources” in your Android settings before installing.
Step 2: Choose Your Data Source
On first launch, tap the hamburger menu → Settings → Hardware Data Source. Select your sensor type:
- Dexcom G7: Select “G7” — requires Bluetooth pairing
- FreeStyle Libre 1/2: Select “Libre Bluetooth” (requires a Bluetooth transmitter like MiaoMiao or Bubble)
- FreeStyle Libre 3: Select “Libre 3” — direct Bluetooth connection, no extra hardware
Step 3: Configure Alarms
Go to Settings → Glucose Alarms. Set your low alert (recommended: 70 mg/dL for most adults), high alert, and urgent low (55 mg/dL). Test each alarm to confirm your phone volume is sufficient.
Step 4: Set Up Nightscout (Optional)
If you want remote monitoring, go to Settings → Cloud Upload → Nightscout Sync and enter your Nightscout URL and API Secret. This allows caregivers to monitor your glucose from any browser.
Step 5: Wear OS / Galaxy Watch Watchface
Install the xDrip+ companion app on your watch. The glucose reading, trend arrow, and delta will appear as a watchface complication. Battery impact is minimal.
Common Issues
- No data coming in: Check that location permission is enabled (required for Bluetooth scanning on Android)
- Libre not connecting: Hold the phone directly over the sensor to initiate the first scan
- G7 not pairing: Make sure no other app (official Dexcom app) is connected simultaneously
xDrip+ is a community project. Always have your official CGM app available as a backup.
