What Changed From Libre 2
The Libre 3 is meaningfully better than its predecessor: the sensor is 70% smaller (now the world’s smallest CGM sensor), streaming is now truly continuous (every minute vs. manual scan on older models), and high/low alarms are included without needing a separate reader.
Accuracy
MARD of 7.8% — one of the best in the market. Clinical studies show strong correlation with fingerstick readings during stable glucose periods. During post-meal spikes, there is the expected 5-15 minute lag inherent to interstitial glucose measurement.
Wear Comfort and Application
The Libre 3 goes on the back of the upper arm. Application is quick with the included applicator. Most users report they forget it is there within hours. The 14-day wear period means only 2 sensor changes per month.
